I have a 80 malibu wagon that came with the rear fin that is part of the rear window's hinge. Has anyone had any negative experience with that spoiler/fin while at the track? After looking a the designs of those racing style fins that stabalize the car at high speeds, it really makes me wonder what those wagon fin's are doing at 110+ mph?
I heard the fin is designed to send air flow onto the rear glass to act as a rear windshield wiper would do. The problem is that the GM engineers in no way thought one of their wagons would make a quarter mile pass in anything less than 18 seconds flat . Anyone else thought about this? Let me know what you came up with?
