st-jean baptiste ,quebec,
I have a 700R4 in my cutlass
I used to have manual trannies in my cars

I`m just looking around for a manual transmission swap ....
did a search but dint find a detail subject on this ...

what are the choices ?
is the T56 the best swap option ? if so, what year is the easiest ..are they all the same ?

and will I have to cut the floor to have it fit in tunnel ?

other alternatives ? T5 being prone to self destroy , any other choices ? has to be overdrive ....

thanks for the inputs !

in your case the t-5 will be the easiest, since you have a 700r4 you can use your driveshaft/crossmember since they are the same dimentions(sp) you can get camaro t-5 with hydraulic clutch and a johnb pedal the only you would need to change are the headers due to the location of the masterslave on the transmission you would need camaro shortys look at my build thread and you get plenty of pics!
edit* although the t55 is easier the t56 is stronger stock to stock and seeing how you have 4:10 it would be better but you need to cut you driveshaft and get a new crossmember but you can use your current headers

already have shorties ....roads are terrible over here .

i had shorties as well but its the angle on them they point straight at the clutch master so to need camaro shorties cause they point more down and then route the exhaust around it master i check if i have pic and post them

I have headman elite long headers with the T5 transmission and the hydraulic clutch set up fit fine. I did go with a Howe hydraulic throw out bearing cause the slave was sitting close to the header..

Do you have a T5 also ?

wonder if the T5 is up to par with 400 HP and good traction ?

I woulndt want to do it all over again .....

I think I'm close to 375 hp and I'm running 245-60-16 Goodrich G-force TA KDW tires that grab pretty good. As long as you don't pound on it all the time. I have a spare T5 WC for just in case that I'm going build up to take a bit of extra power this winter. I should be around 425 hp in the spring, I'll dynoed then.

I'm close to 420hp, I POUND on my car everyday, running 275/40/18 continentals and my transmission is a non world class. i rarely hit on it front a dead stop and barely pound the gears seems to be holding fine 😀 trying to get a g-force kit or if not ill just hop on t-56 which would be better so i can get 4:10's and run full lengths again.
