we have these new polymar bills up here in $50's and $100's. They were supposed to have been tested but obviously they won't take the heat. Turns out someone left as few of them in his wallet in the car on one of these hot days and the bills melted together...these bills were in a metal container close to a heater for one day .
and the government's reply...
"The Bank has encountered no evidence that polymer bank notes are being affected by heat as has been suggested in recent news reports,” said Julie Girard, a bank spokeswoman, in an email Thursday."
and if it happens to you
"The Bank of Canada will reimburse damaged notes, but only if they clear an examination by an Ottawa laboratory.
“It took me six months to get the money back. I had to nag them and nag them,” said Ms. Billard, who got her cheque from the bank this month."
