Hello, I am new here, and am hoping someone can help me out... I recently swapped out the Metric Trans in my 78 Malibu , for a Turbo 350, because this was supposed to be a straight forward swap. Everything went well with the swap, except for my column shifter won't engage all the gears. If i adjust the rod one way I get L1, L2,D R and wont go all the way into park, if I adjust it to get it into park, I get P, R,N D only it will not go into L1, or L2. I took the pan off the Metric trans to find that the detents inside have a slightly different spacing from Reverse to Park . Has anyone had this problem before and what do I do?? Im stumped. I do not want to convert it to a floor shift because I bought the car brand new and it only has only 40,000 original miles and I do not want to put a hole in the floor.

Thanks for any help..
