ARRRRRRRRRGH! Just have to vent....

So, when my MIL died we had to wait for the probate time lapse of 8 months before I could title her car she left me in her will. Ok. Time's up for the window of debtors to make a claim on the estate, so near the end of December we take care of it. Go through DMV's hellacious cattle line and finally get to someone who takes care of the title. Pay the 15 dollar title fee and they'll mail it. No problemo or so I thought. Lady says if you don't see the title by the end of January, give us a call. That's odd. I've never had to wait more than 10 days before. But ok.

Jan 31 rolls around, no title yet. So today I call SCDMV like they said- (the following pretty close transcript of the phone call to Ukraine...no, wait, SCDMV...keep getting them mixed up) - Well....turns out they mailed the new title to me on January 2nd. But I never got it. Their records show that the Post office never sent it back to DMV, so they assume that I got it. But I never received it. That's why I am calling. But USPS never sent it back to us. Yeah, but they never sent it to me either. But you should have it. Um, why would I need to be calling if I already had it? Ok, what do I do now? You have to check with the post office and see if they still have it. Ok, but then, what if they tell me they don't have it? Then you'll have to stop in person to a DMV office and speak to the supervisor of that office. WTF? Like how is this MY problem to fix someone else's F.U. all of a sudden?

It's been a long time since I got a title for a car through DMV. So they have this thing now that you have to pay $20 on TOP of the regular title fee if you want it printed out while you wait. Well, let me tell those mother****ers right now that homie ain't going NOWHERE until they print me out a title while I wait. Even if I have to pay again for it, I don't give a **** because that's what I'm going to do. This is total BULL SHIIT. I feel like I just the same as if I had a problem with a Brother's Automotive Parts order. No matter what happens, it's the customer's fault and problem to solve.

If it wasn't for the fact that I'm afraid someone would be able to forge my name on the lost title and the new "owner" legally take the car from me, I'd just not worry about it and maybe get a duplicate title one day down the road. My luck the cops would show up with the new "owner" saying they had the legit title and I couldn't prove anything.

What a joke.

UPS lost my customers ECU that I sent away for a re+re. Of course, you don't know it's lost until about a week after it should have arrived (no tracking on this stuff for some reason.) On top of the 2 weeks it's already been gone, the truck has now been down for 3 weeks. Call UPS "The investigation could take 2-7 business days." So I call their warehouse in Richmond, hoping to talk to the guy near the box of "we don't know where this stuff goes." Got the same answer.

Bull.

ND, SD, and IA DMV print the title for you when you are standing in the office.

MN takes 4-12 weeks from the state office.

I was in the DMV a few weeks ago and a mom and dad were transferring a title from the grandparent to the grandson for their first car. The grandson "bought" it for $1 (it was free) but the DMV said it wasn't a legit price and said because it was in a family it could be transferred with no tax. No problem, they got the grandparent to write up a bill of sale to prove. Parents brought it in and they couldn't transfer it because you have to be 17 to have a car title in your name. They tried titling it in their name but they couldn't because the bill of sale was for the grandson. Then said OK, then we bought it for $1, again, DMV said its not a legit sales price. $100, not a sale price, $500, tax is $25 or something, ok done.

It's probably not the people you are talking about but anytime the govt gets involved its inevitable.

That sucks. And since they lose my stuff all the time I signed up for Informed Delivery. As the mail passes through the sorting machine it takes a picture of it. Then they send you an email with pics of your mail that day. If nothing else you can prove you did NOT get what they claimed they sent.

I had a tracking number that said something was delivered to me. I found nothing, my carrier knew nothing, we panicked. Turns out they actually scan samples. It was a small sample of mashed potatoes mix that had a barcode. Yikes!
