So I want to get me a mini starter for my mailbu, im also changing my oil pan, so while i was down there i was going to kill two birds with one stone, also my huge stock starter is full of oil :wtf: Thats why im changing the oil pan to replace the oil gasket so that i wont have that oil starter problem..

Its for a 78 chevy malibu 350 motor it had a th350 but know has a 200r4 trans, not sure if its the stock motor that came in it, but thats how i bought it...

My question is how will i know if its a staggered bolt pattern or side to side bolt pattern, also the tooth flywheel count? 153 or 168 teeth? I called RareElectrical on ebay and they wont give me any info if i dont have that info..

I can take pics when i get home of starter..thanks guys

I have a Powermaster dual-pattern one and I am totally happy with it. ALso it's much lighter than stock by 7 lbs!

But i probley should be spending alittle bit more $$ to have a reliable starter.. 😀

look on summits site they have some cheaper ones also. but you get what ya pay for.

True!!! But question still not answered...when i search summit am looking for a universal starter or is it going to tell me what tooth flyywheel i have and bolt pattern?

hey I remember you asking me about mine, from DBElectrical.com
I see you found one the same on Electrical.com

I'm happy with this starter, my engine is close to 11:1 comp, no cranking issues. I have a large 7qrt oil pan the flares out the sides, with headers, and it fits great

I know it's a cheap chinese part, but works well for a budget item

it actually does want me to choose from

Inline
Staggered

168-tooth
153-tooth
142-tooth
104-tooth
139-tooth
109-tooth
105-tooth

Thats were im confused...if i can figure out what my specs are then i can pin point on how much i want to spend.!
