Missing Bolts

I have bought a olds 350 year 68-70 its missing some bolts...There is one head bolt missing..the head bolt sets are like 100 bucks and i don't got the dough and only need on.i was wondering if i could go to a hardware store and get the same bolt dimensions... will it work? i also have couple of valve cover bolts and exhaust manifold bolts missing are they the same on a olds 307?

The exhaust manifold bolts are 3/8-16 thread.
Valve cover bolts are 1/4-20 thread.

You can get those off a 307 or just buy new.

I wouldn't use a hardware store bolt for a head bolt.

You can get a new head bolt from www.rockauto.com

Dorman part number 675-060. 7/16-14 x 3". Which cylinder head bolt are you missing? On an Olds, you have 10 bolts holding the cylinder heads on, 2 of which are shorter than the other 8. You'll want to check the length before hand to double check.

Thank very much for the advice. Went to orielly because they let me just buy one head bolt instead of set of 10 at rockauto couldn't buy just one from them. Sorry for all the questions but, do u now how dimensions on the water pump bolts are?

an easy way to figure that out is to remove the old ones...like this

The two on either side of the pump outlet into the block are 5/16-18. The rest are 1/4-20. I don't know the lengths off hand.

Keep in mine that if you have AC or power steering, a couple of those bolts have studs on them and aren't reproduced.

See i dont have the bolts for the water pump engine did not come with the pump or and of the bolts..
