Mixing E85 With Pump Gas

I've been known to mix one gallon of straight methanol per full tank of gas on my '04 GMC. I've also experimented with MMT, lacquer thinner, etc. You can achieve a lot by blending your own fuel, you can also really funk some stuff up.
You might be interested in MMT, TEL, benzene, xylene, toluene, PEA, PIB, AvGas, nitropropane, and even 2 stroke oil.
TEL is tetra-ethyl lead. The stuff that used to be in gas. It's also an octane booster (but not commonly found in octane booster). TEL is only made by 1 company now and is cost prohibitive unless you really need it. But it's great.
MMT is a lead substitute, a fantastic octane booster, and increases power output in general.
Benzene, xylene are commonly found in fuel and fuel treatments in small quantities. Adding more to your tank can be beneficial especially if experiencing spark knock/ detonation.
Toluene makes more power than gasoline, but is a very strong solvent that can wash away all upper cylinder lube and melt any plastic parts in the fuel system in addition to hardening the rubber. I've used it with great success but one has to do their research first.
PEA and PIB are cleaners.
AvGas is aviation gas for planes and such. It is leaded and is higher octane than what's typically available at the pump.
2 stroke oil should be used on these older cars to keep the valve seats, rings, carb, and fuel pump lubed. TCW-3 is preferred. About 4-6 ounces per tank depending on size. You don't need but 1 Oz per 3 gallons of gas. More and you can cause minor issues.

Many of these chemicals work very well together and can clean, boost octane, and make more power you can feel when used in conjunction with one another. But DO THE RESEARCH *before adding anything to your tank*. VP Fuels has an additive that does just this but it's not cheap.

I guess if this is something you plan on doing all the time for your regular fuel needs, it may be worth while swapping injectors or jets/metering blocks. But if looking to boost octane for a night of cruising and getting on it a bit, it's probably more beneficial to drop a few gallons of 100 or 110 octane in your tank. There's various octane mixing calculators you can use to put your octane in the mid/upper 90's.
