I'd rather not chop my stock hood and I was wondering about buying another OEM hood and doing a scoop or shaker air intake or something that looks cooler than the flat hood.. This would require surgery to the supporting ribs. Anyone?

EDIT
Shaker hood on a stock L69:rofl:

Ed .
there is a Monte SS somewhere is the west end of the GTA ,white with a 5 speed and a shaker hood. I have only seen pictures on some forum not sure which........and it looks awesome.
I say pick up a hood or 2 and start experimenting , not that I can weld ....but !!! and paint afterwards oh that's easy ( for me to type )
and if you go shaker .........add the hood tac..

my 2 cents on spending your money.

I was going to mention that car. I forgot the guys name ...it's been awhile. He did a nice shaker hood on his Monte SS. He's a Canadian guy from somewhere in Ontario.
If you can get in contact with him, I'm sure he'd be able to offer some good advice. He's a nice guy, too.
His car looked very unique with the shaker hood.
His name is Kevin, btw.

Goodmark?

Its rather simple to cut the hoods out. When l cut the hood on the Olds l drilled holes on the ends of the braces l cut and l spot welded. You'll have to put a sealant where the scoop meets the hood so as to not allow water to go between or it will split the bondo or ?
On my Camaro l cut the hole for the bird catcher and built a aluminum frame to cover the edges l cut out and just used aluminum pop rivets to hold it in place.
