Well the motor is an 1989 l98 350 roller motor (stock 240hp,330tq) I'm going to be putting stock vortec heads that I'm going to port alittle with an air-gap rpm intake and 1.6 rockers if they will work, the stock cam [email protected]" 207'/213' Lift (w/1.5) .415"/.430" LobSep 117',,
Also with headers accel ignition and holley 650 carb,,what kind of horsepower do you think I have? I'm hoping for at least 300hp or more and the lift should be higher with the 1.6 rockers

Your probally looking at 260hp max, I would say upgrade your cam with something a little bigger, I know everyone has there own budget or lack there of, so save a little bit more and you could get something better IMO, I wouldn't want you to spend money then not be happy with the performance. Best bet is to look on the net and find simular builds you may want to mirror.

As monte olrac said, most of your build there should have no problem making more power once you put in a larger cam.

The only downside to this is if your vortec heads have not been machined to handle more than .470-.480 lift. To make the cam swap worth while, I would find something in the .480-.500 lift and would definately stick with a roller cam.

I was on another forum about the l98 motors and they said the 1.6 rockers should help my lift out to about 460lift. Which isn't good but it's better

just being honest, i'll give you a 3 hp gain with the ratio change

Lol yea 3 hp ain't much but it's something, but it's probly just going to be easier not to replace them

To figure out your lift with the 1.6 rockers, you first divide your advertised lift by 1.5 (factory rocker ratio), which is what most cam manufacturers base their lift numbers off of. Then multiply by 1.6 (your new rocker ratio) to get your new lift.

My stock cam is [email protected]" 207'/213' Lift (w/1.5) .415"/.430" LobSep 117' So with 1.6 rockers it's almost 460 lift, it's 459, so vortec heads can handle it, well there supose to lol

A roller cam with that lift and Vortec heads, you should have 300hp at the engine

Yea I'm thinking at least 300 at the crank, I'm wanting more but that will be down the rode
