That depends on the quality of the kit and the block. Sometimes minimal to no machine work is required. Sometimes a lot of machine work is required. It would be a safe bet that some pan rail clearance work will need to be done. None of this is super expensive. Good kits are decently priced as well.

yep my machine shop gets $100 to clearance the block as long as its in house for something else like a dip etc.
