So it drops right in and doesnt get hung up on it

works great when swinging in the engine/trans yourself with a crab walking engine lift

If your replacing your engine mounts every few years you should be using steel mounts.

Steel mounts work good, feel Alittle more engine vibration. Got enough engine an you can rock the car at the lights when it idle, l think that's funny.

I got 1 car l've had for 20 plus years with steel mounts and 2 others with steel (all 3 BBC). I don't use steel transmission mounts an never had an issue, but l don't drag them.

All my gbodys have solid motors mounts with poly energy suspension trans mounts. I heard if you do a solid trans mount and motor mounts together you will break the trans case due to no flexibility of the drivetrain during operation.

If you go with solid motor mounts, remember to get a solid transmission mount too. if you don't, you will probably break a transmission case or tailshaft housing when it is put under hard load.

Quite the opposite, if you go solid mounts you will need to have a flexible trans mount, the crossmember on these cars move alot unless you have some hellacious bracing on your frame.

Never heard back whether your trying to install w/ the trans in which i'm assuming you are. You need to get the trans as high up in the tunnel as you can, removing the fill tube would help but watch out for trans fluid. I would suggest you have your distributor removed for max clearance. Set your engine in on the guide pins and mated to the trans. You should be high enough to clear the mounts and with a little push and shove you should get it.
