This week I'm going to do a full tune on my 307. Found a MSD cap , rotor, coil all adds up to little under $200.00. Is there any noticeable difference between MSD and NAPA over the counter? Not sure if it helps to blow cash on the big ticket platinum plugs or factory delco? Always wondered if you can feel the difference with a upgraded ignition.

I'd say you won't notice any difference at all. You'd just be wasting money that could be put to better use elsewhere.

For a stock engine I doubt you would see much of a difference, I would maybe consider a PerTronix kit if you feel the need to upgrade.

Although I agree with 455 , the cap and rotor is no place to skimp. Just make sure you get good quality parts
with brass conductors and not a black cap. I use Standard Blue Streak ignition parts and AC plugs without issues.
My two cents..timo22

Thanks for the input. Ol man taught me half the aftermarket crap is nothing but snake oil. Only parts he used for 40 years is motorcraft. Lol have this little guy I'm sure will feel the difference. However my 307 is practically brand new. Hate to get a swap on this early through.

I have had good luck with Accel parts, Super coil, cap, rotor and 7 pin module. You will need a 7 pin module if you are replacing it.

That's what's currently on it grey cap. Don't think the cap and rotor has any wear. Plugwire pulled apart the other day. Figure I'd get midgrade plugwires and a set of ac/delco rapid fire plugs since I just seafoamed the carb. Running a little rough.

The accel 25 ohm/ft race wires are much more durable than the MSD Super Conductor wires.

I like most of the MSD ignition parts but I also run the sleeved Accel Pro race wires on my Monte.
The MSD wires have huge boots and a stand off with MSD logo and these cause fitment issues with my headers.

I bought the blue 8.0 mm Accel plugs. With AC/delco rapid fire platinum's. Rotor and cap look new. Brand new Monroe front shocks Got 100" speedometer cable. No cruise or adapters. And a weld in bung with new 02 sensor. So hopefully a Good start to bring her back from a long sleep. Actually laid a 30 ft strip today. Got Alot of torque still crappy power.
