I like to hear my V8's but not to much. Looking for a deep sound without being obnoxious. I am from the Mustang world and flowmasters did not cut it for me, sounds like a motorboat and pisses off the neighbors. I figured it would be the same for for the 305 Elky.I would love a true dual exhaust but I do not see how it would work here in SOCAL. Has anyone used the Magnaflow mufflers?

Magnaflows sound nice to me. I had two thunderbolt mufflers on my 305 Monte before. It had a nice rumble but was way more quiet then flows.

yep, I got magnaflows and love them. The level of noise is perfect if you have cats, its a little loud without cats but certainly not droning

There's your problem.. Any muffler you put on it will sound like your motorboat. You need to get:

1. True dual exhaust
2. H-pipe

You were on the right track with Flowmasters. If you're going for deep sound, and nothing obnoxious but sounds powerful, then use Flows, with H-pipe, and stock exhaust manifolds. You'll get the same effect with headers but not as much.

If you use an X-pipe as some will tell you to, it gives more of a throaty agressive sound.

Magnaflow mufflers will also lean towards the throaty aggressive sound.

If you're in Socal I don't see how more exhaust pipes will be an issue? But I don't know.
