i like the thrush ones, or dynomax ultraflow's. i have the ultraflows on my 78 with dual 3" and the sound is awesome, just dont expect to be able to sneak by a cop. he will hear you for sure miles away

Chambered (powerstick, turbo tubes, whatever...):

This is what I want for my next system.

The thrush welded mufflers are a great muffler and on the cheap as well....A study was done recently that I read and they compared flow numbers and what not and the dynomax mufflers flow better and are less restrictive then the flowmasters...My cousin has a '68 Chevelle with the flowmaster super 40's on them and I think it sounds obnoxious, jmo though 🙂

The ONLY way to truly be happy is to make your own mufflers like me:

No, really the Thrush welded mufflers are great. Look at http://thrushexhaust.com/ and you can see the cut-away. Easy to see how they flow so well. I'm not sure how loud they are on a car with no cats, cuz my last one had cats on it. But they sounded nice. I might get the Cherry Bomb Vortex this time, but they're so dam expensive

These have a nice, low rumble at idle with excellent flow:
Dynomax welded ultraflow
Goerlich Xlerator (Stainless if you can afford it)

Or any comparable, quality straight-through muffler.

Glass packs or steel packs are straight-through, but tend to be harsher at higher revs.

If you want it quieter, use "Turbo" mufflers.

FYI: "Turbo" mufflers are nothing new...the design was initially used on the turbocharged Corvair.

Im Getting Some Thrush Welded And Can't Wait To Hear How My Elky Sounds! They Flow WAY better than Flowmaster And Are 1/2 The Price! Get Some!
