I tried Google and search, not finding a lot of current info. So I figured I'd start a new thread for new updates.
Here is some background info on what I got:
I'm rebuilding a 1982 Regal (daily driver) that will be receiving a cammed 6.0 LS motor shooting for 400-420rwhp. I'm going auto (4L80) unless the gear banger in me prevails then it will be a six speed. But for the purpose of this thread it doesn't really matter. Pick a favorite.
I do plan to lower the car about 2" whatever feels and looks right. That might add to any tips I might receive.
Ok so, I have sitting in the garage a stock 1996 Mustang 8.8 rear end, complete with disc brakes. If I use this rear end I'll be swapping the axles out for the shorter ranger/aerostar set, and using a different backing plate to allow use of the disc. This rear is 61" mount to mount. Basically like using a 1.5" adapters. I'm thinking I'd like to have more dish in the back.
As far as I know baseline suspension is the only ones making a swap kit for this swap. Unless this thread reveals some other methods of getting everything dialed in.
I'm not trying to start a debate or poll of This vs That rear end. I'm aware that a 7.5 can be built, and of coarse we all know about the G body 8.5 and its capabilities. There are many options of coarse. There always is, but I hope to keep this 8.8 specific to provide some real world opinions on the subject.
I'd like to hear from people that have done this swap. Or have at least a first hand account in its performance and installation tips. Both positive and negative. Thanks
