1978 Buick Regal Coupe Limited
3.8Lt V6
Column shift auto (not sure on what its called, if someone could tell me thatd be great!)
also i'm not sure on the diff ratio either...

Custom Paint, Custom Velour Interior, Right Hand Drive

apart from that everything else is stock pretty much.

i've got some 13x7 all chrome 100 spoke reverse wire wheels on the way over from the US, soon i plan on installing airbag suspension too.
also going to re chrome everything that had been painted gold by the previous owner.

This is how it was when i bought it:

i sold the 14x7 wire wheels it came with, because they started to develop some rust, borrowed some 18" wires for a small car show

got some custom licence plates "GBODY" not that many people know what that means down here in AUS.

I believe the trans should be a TH350 and may also have been used in some Holden models. If the pan says 'METRIC" on the pan, it will be a Th200. It's cool to see that there is respect for G bodies down in OZ. You guys have some cool cars down there too ( I want a Ford Falcon GT/HO Phase III-BAD!)I am curious, is the Yellow car in the last two pics a Holden Torana? Just curious to see if I could properly identify an Aussie car!

yeh the TH350s are used in some holdens, not sure what exactly.
i'll have a look at the pan tomorrow and see what i've got.

you'd be correct that gold car in the background is a holden torana (1972 LJ coupe) its got a 186 straight six, soon to be installed are triple SU carbs, and match ported and polished head with 11:5:1 compression, its my younger brothers car by the way. 😀

there is only 3 regals in australia that i know of. 8)

the odd thing for me was driving it while it was still LHD on our roads haha! tricky stuff, people got freaked out at the lights looking across at me too.

That's cool about the Torana. I have heard that some of them came with a Holden V8, and have noticed that some of them look similar to our Chevy Vega/Monza and have often wondered if they were related. I know the Holden Gemini is basically an Isuzu I mark/Chevy Chevette/ Pontiac T-1000/ Vauxhall Chevette/ Isuzu Impulse. What kind of power can you get from the six? Side draft carbs are sweet! I am trying to find a Datsun PL510 (1600 in Australia) and want to do a KA24DE swap with side draft carbs to replace the fuel injection if I ever find one. (Sorry! I am a car geek and have a thing for learning about cars from other countries and what people do to modify them. I also want an old Mini for a Honda swap too....lol)
I find it kinda funny that there are so few Regals down there as they were pretty ubiquitous in the US for a long while. Even today rust free examples can be had for around $500 US if you shop around and drive the back roads.

only the later model torana's (LH, LX) came out with 308's
the 6's are the most fun though, but hard to find good condition older model coupes (LC, LJ) my brothers setup in his LJ will be making around 215HP+ which is quite a bit for a 900kg car, not sure what that is in pounds, but they are very light. pretty small car.

with a 202 6cyl you can reach around 300hp+, i remember reading in a magazine a while back some guy had a historic race one making 360hp N/A

the datsun 1600's are even hard to find in aus!

i'll post a couple pics of my brothers LJ for you 😀

heres a couple of pics of my brothers 1972 LJ Torana coupe..

Thanks for the pics! That car looks really nice. For some reason it looks like a car sold in the US during the 70's ( I want to say it's an Opel Manta, but that's just my gut reaction and I don't really know).

As for the Datsun 1600/510, I saw one here the other day and have an interesting story about it. I was driving to the junkyard looking for parts for my car, and what do I see but a Datsun 510 broken down on the side of the road with the hood up. I pull up behind it to try and render some assistance. When the hood is closed I saw that it wasn't some older guy driving it, but a hot girl in her 20's! Turns out she is thinking of selling it, so I gave her my cell number and hope to hear from her soon so I can buy the car. Maybe I can get her number then too...
