White smoke is a sign of blown head gasket. That coolant flows into one or more combustion chambers.

You sure it is not blue'ish? That would be pil. Which is not uncommon on engines with that many miles.

Pull the plugs on it. Is 1 or more washed down? Are they fouling?

Do a cylinder leak down test, or a regular compression test. That would help diagnosing it😉

:wtf:

I was following your post until I got to that part.

Anyway, follow autonaut's advice and run those tests and report back with the results.

If the engine runs fine but it smokes a lot someone probably pinched off the EGR valve / welded it shut last time you serviced the car? This would cause the exhaust to emit the pollutants the egr was previously taking out. Check for a full charcoal canister. If you blew a headgasket you should just be looking for new engines. You can keep driving until its really cold outside but unless the car is in a garage the water thats causing the smoke would freeze in super cold weather which can make it really hard to get the car started and cause more engine damage / eventually terminal damage in the winter time. You can fix the head gasket but if you don't know how to do it yourself than it's easier to just get the whole engine w/ lower miles and reinstall it if you were going to a shop*

Man I thank yaw so I'm going run the test and I really appreciate it sorry for the late response but I'm also a truck driver and I had a long day but I thank God I really do love this site preciate it yaw

If the head gasket is blown it's a simple enough job, not justifying tossing the engine imo..
But the engine has been to the moon, it is probably quite worn by now, if it is basically sound rebuilding it might be a good option.
Does it burn oil, lose coolant, and does the oil pressure light go out right away when you start from cold?. If it doesn't lose fluids and the oil light goes out promptly it's good for a few more miles yet, but the egr valve could be plugged.
Does it smoke from cold and stop after the engine has warmed up?, if it does that is condensation getting boiled out of the exhaust, Quite normal anywhere it's cold in the mornings.
If your motor has pulled the Cadillac in your picture for all those miles it's done very well!.

Roger.

Hey I would warn you about another thing that I saw make my 307 smoke a lot. I never even heard about it before but I put some Pennzoil to top off the oil and there was smoke for days after that. Found a post on here w/ someone making the same claim - so point being we're oldsmobile owners not rocket scientists to explain 'why' but just dont use penzoil in a 307!

OK lol thanks and you know what that's what I been using what about synthetic oil I had that was suppose to be good for older cross anybody got any input about that

Some synthetics will distort your gaskets.. They are thinner than the oil that is supposed to be used, and sometimes contain additives that will distort/soften your gaskets abd then start to seap through the gasket mating surfaces. I dont know if this is your case. Personally i would pour 20w50 or 10w40 into this kind of engine.
