The flowmasters sounds amazing. Very deep tone even at idle. The car sounds like a beast just sitting still. I am having issues getting it to kick down far as shiftting. I bought the bracket thats supposed to work w/ the 200/700 trans but no luck yet. I have it set in hole # 2 hoping to switch it to hole #1 but ill keep updated how that goes as i get time. I found a TH-400 that will need rebuilt but the price is good so Im prob gonna buy it and slowly rebuild and maybe a shift kit. I like the 400 as I have it in the 70 cutlass right now. Its my 1st choice to say the least for this build. But so far Im pleased but having been able to really open her up yet. That will come soon hopefully...
nice cutlass.if it has a overdrive trans in it,i would kept it.t400 are good, but overdrive is great.i pulled my 2004r out and stuck a t400 in it.i wish i didn't.gas is high.
my cutlass with flowmasters to get a idea of the sound...stock 395558 2 block with 3a heads stock headers set up as duals(put sides on seperate pipes) not hijacking just wanted to share the sound of the olds with flowmasters
Nice project and good job so far. Ditto on keeping the 200-4r. The th400 is strong but all the benefits of the OD leave the 3 speed in the 70s for a real performance AND daily driver capable car. You will probably want a good shift kit like what CKPerformance sells. I bought mine from them for $100 when they have it on sale. Also you will need a lock up torque converter switch like what bowtie overdrive sells.
496 kid wish you had some pics & info in your photo album and or some highlights / mods in your signature line.
sorry for the misinformation. i have a 200 metric not the r4 id keep the r4 if i had. it currently has a 3 speed no overdrive. just cant get it to kickdown properly
I was able to get kick down working and also tuned her up a bit and adjusted the 4 barrel to open sooner. she runs much much better. All smiles at this point very exciting stuff lol
