Not sure looks like either a 3" or 4". It has a few surface scratches from handling might have a small chip on the inner side. Remember seeing it not sure where. Had the car for about a month now so still kinda new to me. Also has 3 different sets of pins and gromets that were in the glove box. Only weighs 5/6 lbs. Honestly I'm doing this on a shoe string and its a bit tapped out. I get a Christmas bonus 40% of my annual. So I get a grand to play with for the car. My goal was to have it. COUGH "legal" and drivable for summer. So A $300.00 hood is a bit too much for the ol lady. Lol

Ok I'll have to check it out. I'm not worried about the scratches, I can fill them before I paint my car. I'll talk to my buddy about getting the hood back.

Sounds good. Actually it would be more of a loan. Next Christmas I'm doing the 400/Th400 swap.Saw they make the steel cowl hoods. 4/500.00 . So when its at that point you guys can have it back.

Factory GM guy my mom has been dating got his own shop. It's out of a 68 Firebird. Engine and trans are date coded for a 70s Grandprix. Both are low mile rebuild. Happened to find the #s matching block and 4speed. House and garage are being sold so they can retire down NC so I got them for a song. Have a place up markleysburg I can do the swap at. Eh wait till I got some extra $$ for all the trinkets to get her in.

Got my factory hood mounted and body lines set. Now ready for prepping for paint. Someone painted the car in a black primer over the pinstripes. I want the car to have the hotrod matte black finish. Since it will never receive the $9000.00 retail paint job. Lol I don't have painter friends which sucks. Now if I DA with 320 grit below the pinstripes I take it I will have a wavy mess of low spots?. Doors are also rotted in the unseen frame bottoms. So I want it to look somewhere good. For cruise nights this summer. Or maybe scotch brite wash and use 2 coats of matte black a set of american racing outlaw rims and say F it? The replacement doors online do not have the trim. So either way The car needs major professional work above my drywall/bondo experience. Any advise? Maybe a Earl shibe job? Not putting $9000.00 into a $800.00 car that's worth $3500.00 in showroom condition. 🙂

The easiest thing to do might be to strip to bare metal (use a $30 7" grinder from Harbor Freight and 36 grit discs), prime the whole thing with whatever you want, 1K, 2K, enamel, urethane, whatever. Then block with 400 and spray your color. That's the only way you'll get it straight. Believe me I've tried and I've learned the hard way. A DA will get you nowhere, I've tried it. Also it will be easier to weld or glue your repair panels with the body down to bare metal.

FYI harbor freight paint guns aren't as awful as everyone says, but they are pretty much disposable, one time use. Kirker paints are dirt cheap and decent quality too. Not quite PPG or Transtar but very good. My base coat is Kirker Black Diamond Low VOC Acrylic Urethane with Transtar Kwik Gloss Low VOC Clear on top and Transtar Primer underneath.

^You got anymore pictures of that regal? I really like that color. Damn close to mine, but I think yours has abit more red in it. Plus mine is faded on the outside so it's hard to see 😛
***EDIT*** now that I see them side by side on my screen, mine loks a LOT more purple. Mine is a factory color though. I wonder what color it was. And before you say it, no I cannot look on the sticker on the drivers door. It is painted over in the color I have questions about. :blam:
