My A/C wont blow out of the dash or lower vents

The a/c in my 1986 el camino wont blow out the dash or lower vents, it only comes out of the top windshield vents. Ive gone through the whole controls replacing the heater control switch, and the a/c selector mode switch. I checked the blower motor an its working fine. No matter what setting i have the controls on, it only comes out the windshield vents and not the dash. I cant figure this out....Please help! I live in phoenix, arizona and its 100 plus degrees outside haha...i need my a/c.

Is your vacuum line intact form the engine to the dash?

the same thing was happening to me in a 77 malibu, when i tore apart the dash (for other reasons) i found out that there was an old pen stuck between the gates. took it out and it works flawlessly, besides that i still have the pen in my glovebox, it works great :lol:

You definitely have a vacuum source problem.

My ac/heater only blows through defroster and floor on 81 pontiac grand prix. I think problem is in vacuum lines. Does anyone have a diagram of these lines?
