My key ignition is stuck in the on postion!!

I just put a new stroker motor and transmission in my car, and when I was about to back it out I couldn't start the car or turn it off, it is stuck in the 'run' postion.. How do I fix it???

floor shift or column? anyhow if column try pushing it all the way in park and holding it there while u turn the key back

The car was a colome shift car, still have the knucle there from the shifter, but has a racthet shifter in floor now, I made sure the knucle was in the park posiontion... But it's like stuck, no moving foward or backwards.. Locked up tight..

Have you played with the tilt or tried turning the wheel a little while you try to turn the key back? It seems to happen most often when the wheels are turned.

Lol, I'm turning, shaking, jumping.. And all I'm getting right now is mre and more aggravated...lol

disconnect the link from the column to the transmission and you should be able to get your key out...then you can check to see what's causing the link to bind

i put a floor shifter and it did the same thing, i have a floor shift column now though, but havnt put it in yet...

when you convert the shifter and leave that column, sometimes the part that rotates when you use the column shifter falls down a little and therefore, isnt all the way in the "park position", try turning the column all the way to that position and see if it works

Ok, yeah I understand all everyone is saying, does it make a differnce if my key has came out? Lime I can wiggle the key out ofthe igntion, but it's still locked in that postion...

put it back in and twist the column all the way to the park position, turn the switch to off pull back out...
