id step up to a silverado over there smaller brothers, you cant beat an LS and they get damn good milage if you stay out of them but have alot more power when you dont. Plus you can pull a car trailer.

Correction: You can't beat a Z71. And yes I know, but im not really lookin for power at the moment. I'm more looking for functionality, gas mileage, and something with a truck bed to haul things around.

I'd buy a 4 cylinder 1998-2003 Nissan Frontier. It will get over 20 mpg (mine got 24 city when new) and never die. I have 331,000 pizza deliverin' miles on mine so far with great reliability and cheap parts when it does break. 200k on the original clutch, 243k on the transmission, 275k on the starter, etc. Unlike the Taco, they don't have a metallurgy issue with the frames rusting out either. It is the best small truck you can buy right now on the used market, period.

is it the colorados with the completely f^&ked up front rotor mounting?
granted it's been a few years since i was a mechanic, but at the time we had a few we sent out for warranty and one of our techs came from over from the dealer and well, lets just say he didn't have a good opinion of them.
but the torque was nice!

Yes, you need to pull off the hubs to get to the rotors. In my case, I found it easiest to remove the steering knuckle. Now, I have a torn CV joint boot on mine, gotta do it again. And oh BTW, if the ABS is acting up, most likely the front sensors. There is a something that resembles an external tooth wahser on the hubs. If that is rusted and pulling off, the entire hub needs replaced. I paid about $330/pair from RockAuto.

I would consider the nissan as it does have many appealing features. However, I would not be able to set foot in my father's house or be in his presence thereafter.

dougfather, it looks like you happen to won the exact same truck I'm looking in to. Would you recommend it?

I drove a crew cab GMC canyon the other day. It had around 120k but ran real well and was very clean. I was seriously thinking about buying. Sadly, I was driving it back from the test drive and the check engine light came on. We got out and it almost sounded like a lifter tick. The owner was going to get it checked out today and get back to me about it. I really hope it wasn't a lifter and it was just something stupid and easily replaced. I'll get back to yall on how it goes.

I have no idea why it's upside-down.....

Don't roll your truck and watch out for women driving in the middle of the road.
