lol I am a Versailles grad. If she still has the special 442 8.5 rear that alone is worth the $650. Mike's Montes is close near Newport and should be of some help. Mike may have some stuff than is not as nice as what you see on his website that may be helpfull for an economy restification. Mike obviously when you see the site expanded from Montes to all gbodys but retained the name. Good luck. Naturally there is a ton of good info on this site as well as the linked sites below.
You can click the photos button to see some pics of my old 87 442.
thanks to those that sent me in the direction of Mike's montes. he has all I need that I can find except the sheet metal that goes under the rear seat....all at the cheapest prices I have found.
thanks again
Thanks yea it was a lot of fun. The color was aftermarket & lighter than the factory dark blue but was actually darker than it appears in those bright sun photos. My avatar is the same car same paint but in the shade of the garage on a different day.
http://www.car-parts.com lists a floor pan at Williams Auto 800-969-2015 asking $275 but you would need to ask the details & shipping cost. You may have to find a suitable donor to cut the floor out of and weld it into yours.
You say you have a new transmission. Be careful the 442 had a special version of the 200-4R KZ code on the tag I think with stronger shifts, the ability to shift into OD at WOT, and WOT shift points of 4,800 instead of generic 200-4R shift points of 4,200. So if it was swapped out you may want to find out where and see it you can score the original trans back for cheap. That way you have a numbers matching transmission and one that you can send out for a high performance rebuild in the future should you have high performance plans for the car.
If your interior is extremely faded but not ripped up you also have the option of dyeing which can restore the seats door panels even carpet to sharp or even change colors. I have not done this but some do instead of buying a new interior. The 87 442 had different buckets with chrome on them that most even bucket seat gbodys did not have.
Any one know where i can find the sheet metal that goes under the rear seat as well as the seat.... i cant find a donor car at all? i had to throw the seat out and the floor underneath is gone.
