Ive got a question guys my th350 is leaking around where the torque converter is and the front pump is i think thats what its called. I have had this happen before and ive takeing my transmission to a shop and had them changed the front pump and they said it was cracked changed it out and the leak was fixed. Well i want to save some money this time and change it out my self it seems eazy enough but i cant find this part and any of my local part stores so i figue ill take it off another transmission i have that wasent leaking but was slipping but i will need to get the gasket also. So is the part behind the torque converter the pump i need or is it called some thing else and were can i get this part thanks.

It's not going to be as easy as you think. And i don't recommend using a used one, also check the front pump SEAL before you replace the pump, either way you're going to have to drop the transmission.

Also, if you don't have money to do it right the first time, i hope you've got money to do it the second time. That's not a part you want to buy used.

A cracked front pump is pretty unlikely (not impossible), but if it is cracked, then you have something else wrong that is causing it. There really isn't any strain on the pump case, I have seen the "drive" ears break, but that was due to severe abuse. More than likely your torque converter seal is leaking (far more common), and/or the pump seal and gasket. The t/c seal can be obtained at any local parts store (get the better one they offer BCA/Timken etc) Be sure to check the bushing that is there as well (you'll see it in the pump when you remove the converter) they can wear causing a leak as well. If it is the pump that is leaking, check out a company like TCI, or another that specializes in trans parts. There is a gasket and a seal for the front pump, get them both. Your local parts store can get the pump seal and gasket but most likely only with a full rebuild kit (double check though). When reinstalling the pump, use caution to not damage the little ring seals on the rear of the pump, and use proper torque specs on the pump housing bolts.

I had an internal failure of a torque converter that was causing the front seal(s) of the pump to repeatedly fail. I will +1, that a trans pump replacement probably isn't the best job to do in your driveway, nor would I consider using a used pump.

I changed the front seal and changed the pan gasket with no luck so now i pulled out the transmission and i think its going to be the front pump or the front pump seal any and i got a quote for 100 from a transmission shop so im going that route.
