My 1982 Regal is having issues down shifting into the passing gear and I noticed the hose that attaches to this is just hanging loose under the car. I can't see anywhere where it looks like it attaches and have no idea what part this is which makes it tough to look up any info. Please advise, THANKS!!!!

Also called MAP sensor. Hose should go on the bottom.

Where does the other end of the hose not connected to the MAP sensor connect to? Thanks

Should be connected to manifold vacuum source.

It is a vacuum sensor, it tells the ECM how much vacuum the engine is pulling, so the ECM can figure out how much load is on the engine.

Manifold Absolute pressure sensor. Or MAP it should be connected to a vacuum port on the base of the Carburetor.

Some cars used a MAP sensor, some used a vacuum sensor which reads inverse of a MAP sensor. But both do the same job, telling how much load the engine is under to the ECM.
