Yes, that is a good intake. My stock 403 carb ran great on a 8 to 1, Olds 307, 350 and 403. On my 9.6 to 1 350 with a 204/214 cam, barely idled and stumbled bad.
Need a good carb for built 403.

My 403 is similar, it ran ok with a stock quadrajet with a rebuild, but after I sent it out to Cliffs quadrajet, and they rejetted it, it definitely picked up power.
Techg8 is Ken of Everyday Performance on this site. Him setting up a carb takes out guess work for a similar price as an new generic carb.
I wish I knew more about setting carbs. I tried watching a YouTube video on it and mimicked what he did.....but probly not a 100% or close
405 is the KB part number for an Olds 403 piston....the .024 could be ring end gap (little small for the bore) or a wall clearance missing a "0". KB says .0020-.0025 on bores over 4.1" for street use. The .024 is mentioned in the KB ring pkg info for the 403

Road construction on university ave. Round a bouts everywhere. Cedarfalls is pretty nice. Waterloo is being called little Chicago! So basically it wasn't enough to call it bored...maybe just enough to smooth out the insides?
IMO the Qjet is the best street/performance carb ever made and I'm certain it can be set up to work extremely well on your engine.
Have you considered the FiTech system? Over the last couple years I've known 4 people to switch from carb to this set up (I may do it on my El Camino, as well) and the set up is effing awesome. It's simple to install and set up. The difference in the way these cars now operate is night and day. Near instant starts, much better throttle response and better gas mileage...no stumble, hiccups or problems. One of my friends dropped it on his Stage II 454 Buick powered El Camino, I've driven that car before and after - it's made me consider doing it on my ride. Just a thought for you.
