The Melling and Edelbrock cams are basically indentical. I found these cams gave good launch, even with a stock stall and 3.42 gears. I have had them in a stock 76 350 and stock 403. A cam like yhe 207/207 .461/.461 Lunati high efficiency series.

That figures. A lot of companies do that. I remember that Edelbrock used to get all their cams from Crane. Not sure if they still do that or if Melling was suppling both companies. I may look into that.

One thing I do know about Olds cams are that the factory and the most efficient aftermarket cams have dual pattern durations. Like that Lunati cam you mentioned has a 207/207 duration.(Single pattern)
Meaning this cam is treating the motor like the intake and exhaust have the same flow. And we all know they don't. Olds only used single pattern cams on their HP engines ie... the W30 cam.
Todays cams are more tailored to the engine and what you want it to do and also are much stronger than the old grinds. The factory 350 sbo cams (There were only 3 from 1966 til the end of production.) had dual pattern duration. The exception was the W31 cam, which was a base W30 cam from '67.
