The HEI vacuum line goes to the carbs vacuum port.If im 90 out how do i fix this issue do i take out the distributor and turn the gear in the block and put the distributor back in or will have to start fresh and put his engine back in tdc.Or like some of you guys said plug the HEI vacuum port and put the car at 0 or 4 degrees advance and plugin the vacuum line and then adjust the idle.Any sites or video that you can post to help me out some more would be great too thanks for you guys answers.

Right but a carb can have multiple ports that have either full manifold vacuum or ported vacuum.

When you unplug the vacuum canister are you plugging/capping off the vacuum line at the carb? If not then you'd have a large vacuum leak while trying to set the timing.

Yeah, if your not capping off the vaccum port on then you've got a vacuum leak while setting the timing.
