It'll still sound good, the sound hits the ground and bounces back and forth between the car and road.
It'll sound a LOT better if you have an H-Pipe, deeper, mustangish. Any exhause shop can weld one in for you, for less than $100.
If you go with an X-pipe, it's a little less deep but throatier tone. Bit more expensive cuz you'll have to buy one and put it in.

If you have long tips out the back, the tips themselves cause resonance and will improve the sound even more, noticably (I didn't believe it myself until I tried it and it was awesome).

That's what I am hearing its kind of annoying hearing the exhaust and feeling the rumble with it being cut so far back.
But I love the look and I don't mind the noise or rumble.
I would say the tips themselves are about a foot.

I might check out the x pipe from places around here so I can just know its a little bit better put in and sounds a little better.
