i have 1988 cutlass supreme with 307ci olds motor...(80000 miles)
STRAIGHT 2.5 inch duals(no mufflers) that run out in front of the back tires...
New timing chain.

i asking why will my 307ci olds motor not spin the hell out of one tire and run like a b*tch...
i know the 307ci are not monsater but i know it will light up a tire (its a v8)...
MY QUESTION IS WHY DOES IT NOT HAVE THE POWER IT SHOULD...
I PUT DUALS ON IT AND PUT A NEW TIMING CHAIN SET AND IT STILL DOES NOT RUN LIKE I KNOW IT WILL...
MY FRIEND HAS 86 REGAL AND IT WILL SPIN THE **** OUT OF ONE 16 INCH GTA WHEEL...
THEY ARE BOTH SAME BLOCK AND SAME HEADS...

Try putting some sand in the road to get it started 😀
Are sure its tuned right?
Is your timing right?
Is it a Quadrajet? are the secondaries opening?
Maybe your cam is worn out? How many miles on the motor?
A mild cam in there will make a world of a difference. 8)

i has a stock 307 also and it wouldnt spin the tire unless ground was wet lol and my carburater was freshly rebbuilt so it might be something else ??

thats what people say it will only spin tire in the rain my *ss...i have seen 307ci olds motors that flat light a tire up and i have seen them that will not do a damn thing WHY...

there's also the trans and the rear gear to consider. if you have a 2.14 rear you won't spin without major power, a 3.73 will spin on a 307. besides, a timing set does nothing for power and the headers/exhaust won't do anything appreciable for it either.

x2 on the trans and gears. After swapping from my 2.29 to a 3.73 I dont even really have a need to powerbreak it.

But at the same time something is not possibly right cause i had tha same car88 with a 307 and a junkyard transmission and i could light the whitewall tiree up at will and i did.Now for being the originaal engine i will say mine ran well and im sure the rear was still factory...

You mean with this car you have now, or an identical one? Rear gears varied even in the same year. They could have had slightly different packages
