im running a stock 350 bottom end, just had the stock heads machined for screw in studs and had a pocket port done on them. the machine shop said it would add more power that a gasket match port. i had a head improvement kit from competition products intstalled. new valves springs rated to .510 and new valve seals. all new locks and retainers to. the cam im running is a flat tappet .465/.488 282/292 duration. and i plan on using a dual plane intake. now im trying to choose a carb. i was thinking a 750 vacuum secondary carb with an electric choke. on my ford stroker motor im running a chokeless 750 dp mech secondarie but i only use that car on the weekend to go to the car shows around town and rarely at the track since its kinda far and i dont have a trailer to pull it there. but i think it will be overkill on this car since i plan on using it during the week just to roll to work in somethin that has some power. the machine shop is saying 650 but would that be to small if i decide i wanna take this car to the track and run. im not concerned about gas mileage either. and i want to try to the the a/f ratio at 11to1.

oh yeah im using holleys online carb selector and its giving me several 650s and 750s thats why im asking. this is gonna be my first carbed car that is gonna be used to drive to work and i have no exp with carbbed cars and starting them in the morning to drive to work. im only 20 carbs are way before my time.

same here bro...im still gettin the hang of carbs too...but to tell you the truth i think a 650 or a 700 would be a safe bet...wait n see what the other more experienced guys tell you...

I would go with a 650, I had a 750 dp on my 350 and it over fuel'd bad, went with a holley 650 dp w/proform main body upgrade and couldnt be happier, as for the motor its pretty healthy and the 650 works great with it. If you do go with holley invest in a jet kit, save you alot of time and money.

so why invest in a jet kit. i know on my 347 stroker, running a 200 shot i had to change the jets around a few times to get the right a/f ratio. but honestly changing the jets didnt make much of a difference on that i went from a 11.2 to 1 to a 10.8 to 1 a/f ratio by changing the jets several times. but on a dd why should i invest in a jet kit. im not trying to be smart or nothing i would just like to know i only got 2 yrs tuning carbs and im still learning.

okay i just called my buddy who helped me setup my carb on my stang he is an older guy who has alot of exp. and he said the only gain from jetting is getting the correct a/f setup and making sure it aint dumping to much fuel or leaning on u. so bubba u are right. it will save time and money, as i found this out when i went through 3 perfectly good carbs on my stang i just didnt know how to jet em. so the 650 wasnt running good with your setup out the box? or did you just want to get it perfect.

like my carb being a dp i have front and rear jets to play with, around my parts its like 6 bucks for one set to do it for the front and rear its twelve bucks, go the wrong way and you gotta fork out more money and more time driving across town to get more jets, i picked up my jet kit off ebay for 36 bucks but thats just my opinion

just tried dialing it in and in the process of changing squirters i stripped out the threads on the front one, i did some research called holley and long story shory holley is about the only place to get it fixed due to the size of the heli coil that would have ran me bout 80 bucks.... so i paid the 120 and got the proform main body

man that sucks, but live and learn, well im prop gonna go with a 650 vac sec. or a double pumper with a modified airhorn, u know when they delete the choke, i know i saw one at the shop for 225. used but with a fresh rebuild. im leaning towards the double pumper cuz thats all ive ever used and i like the way they perform and i like the chokless cuz i hate messin with chokes. im sure with the timing set just right i wont have probs with start ups. and since the shop that is selling me the carb is like 5miles away i can wait on the jets to see how it will do with the ootb jets. worst case scenario i gotta go buy some jets and change em out. thanks for everyones input.
