I've now lost 2 driver's side windshield trim (the vertical part) on a high speed excursions. I finally recently found another from a guy on face book but the Postal Gorillas did a great job keeping it safe, not really, see below. I've had a bit of a time tracking one down, it has to be from a wagon or 4 door specifically. If you have a spare from a parts car please contact me here or shoot me an email at [email protected]. It's for a 79 Cutlass wagon. Thanks very much in advance! Also below is my solution for keeping it on there 😉

I can probably find you your trim, I'll look Monday for you. There's a 78 custom cruiser at the yard by me I belive has the trim.

Ben,
It should probably be shipped in a stiff mailing tube, or something of that sort.. even a piece of PVC pipe, but that might add some weight to it.
Have you tried straightening it...or is it too kinked?

Jack- That trim had a pretty gnarly crease in the lower half so it's done for. I have found another set and they're on their way to me. Thanks everyone for the help.

Ben,
I'm glad you were able to find a replacement. Hopefully it arrives in better condition than the last one.
Any new developments with the car....how about Roman's wagon project?

Thanks Jack. I started an engine swap back in March but the project has snowballed and is leading to a bunch of updates and changes on Pumkinator. It should be that much more competitive at the autocross and I'm hoping to run low 12's- maybe 12.30s-40s in the 1/4. Roman has been working at Wendy's so he hasn't had much of a budget. He got his windows tinted, has a bumping stereo perfect for a teenager, and he's done a few upkeep repairs like a water pump and new battery. A couple weeks ago we finally got around to stripping the 2003 Tahoe he bought at auction for his 5.3 and overdrive. He also started a full time job this week at a large local custom cabinet shop so he'll be bringing in decent money and learning some new skills. About a month ago he bought a little 1990 S10 to putt around in and the Coppertop wagon transformation will begin soon! We'll update both build threads as we go along.

Ben,
Thanks for the update. So the Pumpkinator is going through another transformation. It seems one thing leads to another...isn't that usually the case? It should be interesting though.

I'm glad to hear that Roman will be starting a new job to help fund his project. Working at Wendy's certainly isn't going to cut it.
Working in a cabinet shop is hard work, but I'm sure it will be a good learning experience for him. Besides,he's a young man and this isn't the last stop on the train of life.
The lil' S10 will come in handy for schlepping parts, etc. I could use a small pickup myself.
My best regards and wishes to him.

Keep us updated on any new developments.

Yes, the transformation to my rendering is underway. I installed a GN 8.5 posi last season and after breaking the 406 in November I stole the motor from my drag Nova which ran mid 11's in a 2800 lb car. When I weighed Pumkinator it was 3550. I've bought a fiberglass front bumper and air dam and the new 'glass hood will be coming soon. I've got a good list of shaving weight items and hope to bring it to as close to the Optima Ultimate Street Car challenge 3200 lb minimum as I can. I probably won't hit that # but should hopefully be within 100 lbs. It's pretty likely it will be considered by some to be "border line" race car but I drove that Nova daily back in the day so driving race cars on the street is nothing new to me. I've built a center console and am working on new dash inserts with all new aftermarket white face gauges. Then comes one of those abs dash covers, custom door panels, new carpet, and new seat covers. Then body work begins and at some point I'll get it wrapped with 3M satin black and liquid copper vinyl wrap to match the rendering. Likely it will be next year when the 9" rear gets narrowed and installed and then I want to save my pennies for 315-30-18s on 18x11" wheels all around. At that point it will be "done" and I'll focus on improving my piloting it.

We're going to lower the S10 here pretty soon, and update the exhaust with a Flowmaster muffler we have laying around. Once Coppertop is done the 350 that's in it will get rebuilt and get slipped into the S10. Where we currently live there's no emissions testing so we can slide under the radar there.

My project on deck is converting my 2500 '77 Suburban to half ton (already have a spare complete chassis with a rear C notch done) and I'll drop it 6" and add some 20" wheels. I also want the 454/TH400 out to go through for my Nova, and maybe I'll slip a small block in the Burby instead. I have a line on a friend's 5.3/ overdrive, but his brother is still trying to figure out if he wants it or not. It's complete with aftermarket harness and tune and ready to drop in and drive but with all the spare change that's going into Pumkinator, the $2,000 price means saving my pennies for a bit. 🙂

Ben,
You have quite a to-do list, and no shortage of things that you want to accomplish. I'll hand it to you, you certainly have some cool plans and ideas. Had I been 30+ yrs younger, I'd have more enthusiasm and stamina. Good for you, man....go for it. My days of taking on larger projects are over.

Post some pics of your updates when you get a chance. We all enjoyed your build thread.
I respect, and can appreciate the amount of work you put into the Pumpkinator.
