Left switch is the neutral safety switch the right is the backup light.

Start with the easy one. The back up light switch goes to the blue and purple wire here (Outlined in red) on the backup light switch on the steering column.

Jump those wires and put them on the right side switch. A jumper with two wires 2 male 1/4" terminals on one end and 2 1/4 female terminals on the other end and you don't have to cut the factory wiring harness.

Everything I can find says these switches are rated .6 to 1 amp so they cannot really carry the load of just the back up lights which are about 2 amps per bulb. Three choices; push your luck ( they are not usually on very long so you might get away with it.) Use a relay (adds complexity but is trivial to do.) Use LED bulbs they draw very little current and are within the switches specs.

The neutral safety switch is a bit more involved since these cars did NOT use electrical neutral safety switches.
You will need to mess with the ignition switch wiring first de-pin the purple wire (see the above picture of the steering column and this one). That wire will go to the 30 pin on the relay.

Then take a jumper with a 12Ga wire with two female terminals.

One end goes where you took the wire from the ignition switch, the other end goes to 87 on the relay. No factory wiring was cut.
How you switch the relay is up to you. You can switch +12v or ground using the switch in the shifter and the 85 and 86 terminal on the relay.
