I installed a B&M megashifter so I'm rewiring the neutral safety switch and reverse light switch. I figured out the reverse light switch and got it working properly with my shifter.

I was told that for the neutral safety switch to function, I must run the B&M switch to the Dark Purple heavy gauge wire under the dash near the steering column. Well, I cut this wire, installed the switch, and It still starts in all gears, whether the circuit is open or not.

I just want to verify that this darker purple wire is the correct wire coming form the ignition?!?!

switch

did you run the purple wire through a relay?...jesse

Yep, and the weird part is the car starts whether relay is on or not . . . I even swapped with a known working relay and same deal.
