Any mods? Cam, Intake, Carb or EFI???

I have one for my Taxi too. I'm not changing the cam but I am putting some CompCams 1.6 roller rockers, beehive style valve springs, Edelbrock Air Gap Intake and Holley Sniper EFI.
I don't need another race car, I just wanted a smooth running engine with lots of low end torque.

I've done these swaps before using the L31 with an Intake and carb. They are great little engines.
The 1.6 rockers made a big difference in the last one.

This is where mines at.

Sure would like to hear how that 5.7 Vortec motor works out for you. I have done a lot of those motors from stock to hotter set ups with only a cam change. When you get to some thing over .480 lift you will need a valve spring and seal upgrade. Comp makes s behive spring and retainer thats go to .525 lift. Comp EX 282 and a 1.5 rocker or the GM Hot Cam with a 1.6 rocker will keep you under the .525 lift for the springs.

Agree with the frame holes in Turna's post. One hole on each motor mount it left unfilled as they hang over the GBody engine crossmember. I did not have to cut off the tabs, though. What I did have to do is jam a pry bar inside the clamshells and push the rubber inserts upward and outboard with the motor partially supported to allow the round 'ears' on the motor mount brackets to drop in between the pairs of tabs and align with each motor bolt hole.

I bet you could easily invite one of our Canadian friends to sunny Florida to prove some clues to your mechanic.
