I just bought a 1984 Monte Carlo SS. After driving it home, it later wouldn't start. Charged the battery, and checked the alternator - nothing. Just installed new alternator, and now I have 13.8 volts with no lights on but only 12.2 with any lights on. Headlights dim when pressing the brake pedal, and the turn signals won't flash when on the brakes. They flash slowly when not on the brakes. Other issues like slow power windows, odd gauge readings, etc. Any suggestions for a starting spot?? Bad ground?? Thanks.

You answered it your self sounds like a bad ground, you need a service manual to find all of the grounds. Need to clean each ground and see if that solves the problem.
