Well, with gas prices down to $2.45 a gallon, this whole discussion is a moot point. I will keep driving the truck until it dies or I do ( I wouldn't bet against the truck ...:lol🙂, so 400,000 miles here I come! I may not like the sameness, but there is a certain comfort in the fact that it never lets me down. I'll start saving some money now in case it does, but otherwise I'll drive it at least until I finish school. By that time, (3 years from now) it should be on the cusp of 400,000 as I drive 33-35k a year.

$1.97 a gallon by me   . How long do you think it will stay like that, wait till the holidays come closer. I am sure it will go right back up!!

There are a number of reasons it has dropped. First off, just like real estate, it was a speculative bubble that has burst. Second, the US Dollar has strengthened relative to other world currencies as the rest of the world plunges into the abyss with us. Third, demand has fallen worldwide. I think it will eventually stabilize around $2-2.50 mark when all is said and done. OPEC won't let it go much lower as the price to produce oil is around the $20-25 a barrel mark. The big negative is that the lower price per barrel means it is not economically viable to explore for increased domestic production, so we will repeat this pattern again, probably within the next 5 years.

I would also look for the Dollar to regain it's one to one value ratio as compared to the Euro. It was trading in the $1.60 range against the Euro, but has since strengthened to around $1.25 per Euro. If you remember, when the Euro was first introduced, it initially was at 1:1 with the Dollar, but quickly fell to around $0.75. Currency markets are fun!

price goes down after I buy a used 07 Ford Fusion 2.3L. I still like the car, gets 30 MPG and comfort for 4.

When I blew up the transmission in my K-5 I talked my wife into buying a third car while I was swapping trannies. I hit up craigslist, and for 500 bucks bought a 97 cavilier coupe 5 speed. We ended up keeping that, and I sold the truck and K-5 and got the buick. That little b*st*rd was the best 500 bucks I ever spent, gets 35 mpg all day long and runs like a champ, just turned 133,000 miles
