haha. It kinda looks like a short bus to me

We got the new motor in and running this weekend. The job wasn't too bad, we weren't working at full speed and still finished it in around 15 hours (20 hour job according to alldata.) It fired right up and drove down the street just fine. The tires are a little square, so hopefully with a longer trip they will smooth back out. It set some codes for the idle air control, which is apparently a problem on these engines if they sit for a long time. We might try to swap the old one over and see what happens. So far the only things that caught me off guard were front brakes ($50 on eBay, new!), sway bar end links ($7) and an upper fill for the radiator ($17).

I guess I’ll give a little closure to this project ( I doubtt anyone was curious lol.)

Its offically mine and on the road. These little things are surprisingly nice to drive. Definetly slow, but isn’t scary to merge out into traffic or maintain speed on the highway. No unexpected mechanical surprises so far. It cleaned up awesome, I ended up having the hood painted (it was all rock chipped.) So far I’m into it for around $1650, not bad!

Nice. Copier outfit that we do work for has a few in their fleet, heard they were about due to be replaced...thinking one would make a good commuter. Heck, they're almost wagons!

That came out great! They really are pretty useful little things.

Tried to get my wife to drive one. I thought it would be cool.

The look is growing on me. I realized today this is one of the only cars I can think of (besides maybe the beetle) that looks the same from every direction...square.lol.

I guess you could consider it a wagon. I am surprised by the headroom also!

Thanks! It cleaned up really well.

I like your Phone Booth! My wife said 'no', so I bought my DD Rollerskate, the same basic platform with a stick. I helped drive Scion out of business. Toyota did a reverse-Lexus, aiming for the 18-30 first time car-buyer market. The base car was loaded and Toyota planned to make their profit on adding bling and financing. Old farts like me bought them for cash at the 'no haggling' sales price. 89K and still going strong. Tried out some 17" Koenigs in cheap tires on CL. They made the ride so rough, I almost lost a filling, so I passed them on for what I paid minus one tire plug. Decided to go incognito and found a set of 4-bolt 16 x 7" steelies on Summit. Shod in 225-50-16 minivan tires, they rub a little at full right turn, but otherwise, they are an inch and a half wider than stock and fill the wheel wells without spacers. Found a set of xD caps on CL to complete the 'dog dish' look. Fun taking 90-degree corners at 45 mph and it gets 40 mpg if I keep my foot out of it. Good tips may be found on ScionLife.

While I have two Malibus, I'm not driving them every day like the Scion. I really know this car and shift by feel at this point. That used to be the old wagon two decades ago. The imprinting remains, and I'll miss the 'Skate when it's gone. Cars have gotten so complicated. And ugly. The xB however, is 'bold'.
