CUTLASS New door strikers?

Do it! Do people usually have foam or a screen behind these aftermarket vents to prevent junk from falling in/ hide the view? I haven't been able to inspect these on a car up close.
Waiting to hear back from my contact to see what they would charge me to engraved and chromed them. I will look at my stock ones today, but IMO I think they will need backed with something so you can't see straight into the door.

Back onto the strikers. I do wonder like you Sweet_Johnny about the strikers that don't have the spinning collar...how that will impact.

I don’t think having the roller collar on it is as big a deal as the material that one is made of:

Aluminum, especially in that application will wear extremely quickly. I have all stainless steel ones on The Juggernaut, and have had zero issues with wear in the 10+ years they’ve been on there.

I sourced mine locally a long time ago so I can’t be of much help there, but the application was for a first gen Camaro/Firebird and the thread pitch was exactly the same so you should have no issues either.

Copy that. I'll look for stainless.

melloelky what is this statement on anti-sieze for us uninformed peeps?
I'm an anti-seize fanatic and especially when it comes to dissimilar metals living together. A dab of it on the threads goes a long way. I've experienced galling a handful of times (I'm not trying to scare anyone) and it's a bad feeling.so which ever strikers you choose(any of those will look good on your ride) a dab will keep thing's playing well together and coming apart should the time arise.

These appear to be stainless striker post and washer. They show as 7/16" -14. Which I believe is the same as the Cutlass. Just doesn't specify striker post length.
Wonder if they will work? 🤷‍♂️

The factory collar wasn't supposed to "spin" per se. It was rubber bushed to minimize lock noise that eminated from the post and latch when closing and tried to prevent transfer of that noise to the door and body. Some trucks were bad in that they used a plastic collar. We all know how that works out over time.

Of course, over time, the constant use and weather conditions took its toll over time, and due to the rubber deteriorating, it could become loose and start spinning. This is NOT how they should work, though.

I know it's not an issue here, but when junkyard diving for factory posts, go for the passenger doors or rear doors of a sedan if needing to replace a rubber bushed one. They see the least amount of use, obviously. Of course, if there's 290,000 miles on the car, it goes without saying it's likely none of the posts may be in great shape. Strange, the current GM replacement posts are solid posts and come painted black and list for nearly $35 each.

FWIW, a 2-door Buick Regal and 2-door Olds Cutlass share the exact same door shells. Probably 4 door too, although I haven't checked. So door and supporting parts will interchange.

In fact, most all the 78-88 body styles use the same striker. B, C, D, E, G bodies (save for some 78 E, and 78-79 B, C body) . They may have a hex or torx head socket pattern on them, but they're all the same, dimension-wise.

You're forgetting the most important part, nothing fits a Cutlass Supreme to include Cutlass Supreme parts.

Thanks for all the insight guys. I went with the stainless ones from Eddie Motorsports. I'll let ya know how they work out once I get them. I'll probably grab a couple chrome washers for behind it, as my current set up has 2 washers behind each of them. 👍👍

Got this wrapped up today so figured would share. Went with the stainless strikers from Eddie Motorsports. Got here super fast and look great. Seem to be exact same size as my stock ones. I was gonna find two chrome or stainless spacer washers..but was unsuccessful and didn't want to send 4 washers to chrome. So I cleaned up the old washers and painted them. Looks about 100 times better lol.
