Hey everyone I just signed up after doing some reading on here.
I own an 86 monte ss clone, I've bought it with my own money when I was 14 yrs old. I'm 27 now
I have always been a gearhead, and got started wrenching on this car which turned into working on friends' cars and eventually led to quite a bit of side work in my garage, so just because my user name implies I'm a carpenter dosen't mean I don't know anything about cars too! lol
My car currently has a 383 with a 700r4 and a 9" and ran a best of 7.86 in the 1/8th, but now that I've finally narrowed down my 6500 rpm miss to the stock fuel pump pushrod (long story) I'll be going with a light weight one next yr and hopefully pick up a tenth or two!
Anyway great site! I don't know why I didn't sign up sooner!

Welcome!

Welcome, let's see some pics

I'll have to see if I can dig any up, or I could take a new one, but it's dirty from being in the garage all winter 😳

carpenter383,

Welcome aboard! Interested in your fuel pump push rod story.

Doug

Well it's not a real interesting story, it had me scratching my head all summer, It would miss bad when the tach hit about 6500 rpm, but ran good up to that point. I changed everything I could think of cap rotor, plugs, wires, played with advance weights, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure guage, adjust valves, etc. I was about ready to put a holley blue on it, while looking at them on the net, I found the lightweight pushrods. The description said stockers tend to float around 6500 rpm, bingo!
I haven't installed one yet, but I'm 90% sure that's the prob.
BTW I'm running an msd box and a (gasp) q-jet

Welcome to the site! Getting a lot of IN people on here, great to see! I've got an 85 Regal, east side Indy - really love Monroe/Brown Co, there's some beautiful country there...
