New guy from Cincy, planning an LT1 swap

Hey all,
New guy to the forum from the Cincinnati area. I have an 86 Monte Carlo SS with a 305 TBI and 700R4. I'm not real happy with the performance so I'm planning to swap in an LT1 and 4L60E from an Impala SS using a Corvette accessory drive. I have most of it planned out except for the exhaust. For the guys who have done this before, will the LT1 manifolds line up with the stock downpipes or are the stock Monte manifolds preferred. If using the stock manifolds what's the best way to route the plug wires? Headers aren't really an option right now so any help would be appreciated.
