hey guys, I'm new to the G body stuff but have been playing with mid 60's and early 70's muscle cars for a long time. I had been keeping my eyes out for a nice 79-83 malibu but wasnt finding much in my area, i happened to come across an 81 El camino in my area that has a stout 70 350 and it's a factory 4 speed manual car. i dont find any rust and it seems to be fairly straight. it's a non A/C car which is perfect since i hate a cluttered engine bay. I think i can pick it up for 1800.00, my intentions are to have some fun building a high revving 4 speed toy.

couple questions before i buy the thing.

1) does 1800 sound like a fair price?
2) are the repro dash caps any good?
3) how much does a base model el camino weigh?

here are a few pics of the car. thats not primer, it's oxidized dark green paint

My 82 has a repro cap on it. It's a little rough around the edges, but all in all, it beats the hell out of the cracked original that most likely lurks under there. Price seems fair and I don't know what it weighs in at. Welcome, I'm in Seattle.

From the outside she looks good. Might even shine with a buffer and rubbing compound. That'd be a cheap price for my neck of the woods and it'd be in my driveway lol if that tells yah anything
