I am new here but not new to the g-body game. 😀
My name is Larry and I am 28 from Houston, Tx.
I have had my Malibu for about 7 or so years and come from a family that has many g bodies and a few other muscle cars.
I signed up to ask questions and contribute some of my findings while working on my Bu.
I have a 1981 Malibu, with a 355ci small block. It has a small cam and converter but still has A/C and power everything. I am not too worried about going fast, I just want it to sound decent. I just recently finished painting the entire car inside and out and that is what got me in to fixing all the little things wrong with it to bring them up to factory specs like the dummy lights on the dash and stuff of that nature.
The car was already black when I got it but it was a half assed job. The body was wavy, the paint looked dry, and the car was painted without dis-assembly, so the jambs and behind all trim were barely painted or still the original blue. :?
Here are some pics of it disassembled, in primer, and in her current state.
The car was down for 6 months but was only about 2.5 months of actually working on it. The car is not 100% yet. I am still missing some window trim, filler panels, I need to wetsand and buff the whole car, need to clean up the engine bay, and the interior needs some attention lol. I am trying to get the car complete then tackle each project one at a time.
I have tons more pics as a WIP but I am sure most of you would just rather get to the finished product.
If you have any questions feel free to shoot! I will be posting up all of my little electronic tweaks and hopefully you guys agree that they are worth doing.
Thanks for having me! 😀
