Hey everyone, don't know if you've noticed the red-letter message just under the site header, but there's now a new feature for the site... the GBodyForum mailing list. You can sign up for it here:

Now I just started this yesterday, so there's really nothing happening with it yet, but here's what I have in mind:
- Periodic newsletters with the hot topics, new topics, new photos, GBody of the Month, new users, etc.
- Announcments about events, g-body news, products, whatever
- Communicate GBF-exclusive deals from our supporting vendors**
- Other community news

If you're concerned about privacy and spam: I won't be sharing this list data with anyone. Ever.
As of yesterday evening, when you register for the forum, and say "yes" to the question "Do you want to receive additional e-mails from the site, etc. etc." you'll automatically be signed up to the list. For existing members I haven't figured out a good way to do this. It's been on the radar for a while, and that question's been in the profile data forever. So you may have "yes" set for that field, but not be on the list. It's also a question of the mailing list provider's TOS. You may have said "yes" but it may have been a while, so I need to make it even more voluntary....
Also: If you said "yes" to that question, are on the list, and then change it to "no" I don't have the code in place to unsubscribe you from the list yet, or vice-versa. Fair warning.
Somewhat related, I added a first and last name field to your profile data under the User Control Panel. These are totally optional, if you want to put them in there or not is up to you. Nobody will see it but you and me, and the main reason is integration with the mailing list in the future. I plan to figure out a way to keep the data synchronized, so that if you change your profile fields here it changes the data on the list, too. New users who fill this out at registration will have that info recorded to the mailing list.

If anyone has any questions, concerns, whatever, about the list, about subscribing, or unsubscribing, or anything... drop me a line on this thread or via e-mail. There may some problems as I try to get the user data and list data synced up.
** interested vendors give me a shout. Talk to me about what you'd like to see/do here.
