What do you mean when you say it blew up - when you do rebuild it I am going to suggest installing am oil pump booster kit. Depending on what year block you have - the 5/8 oil system is desirable.
The problems I have seen is taking out the rod bearing in (I believe) #7.

I was driving it the week fo the dream cruise and I only got a few miles before the car just stopped. Rolled into a parking lot and when I popped the hood and checked the oil there was NO oil in the car at all (even though I had just done an oil change 3 days prior). Im waiting for my cherry picker to come from Harbor Freight and then yank it out and I can only hope theres not too much damage.

When reading about the 455's I did see the part about installing a better oil pump. I think I could just obtain this from O`Rielys or Summit. Right now I'm mostly concerned with the internals....a rebuild kit on ebay is $700-$800...but not sure if those are junk or not....

I've used Northern Auto for the past 10 years - they will let you order their rebuild kits with the brands you want. I believe a re-ring kit are $200.00 and a total engine kit is $600.00
Look them up on line and have them send you a catalog. Here is a pic of mine before someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
