So after three days of f'in around wit body aligning, we discover thing are way worse than I thought, that passenger side pillar/post is beyond repair, we couldnt understand why the damn pass door would not align. So off comes the fender and what do we see? The entire front body mount is gone on the pass side. So from there I started to take dimensions and I find a two inch difference from the roof line to the top of the rocker panel. I dont understand how the glass is even in the car, but the frame is 95 % clean I just dont get it. So the project is on hold until I find another car/rolling chassis. I'm not sure if I want to start stripping the car down or if I should just sell all the really good parts. Any suggs are very welcome guys please give me your input. Thanks

Good parts consist of real GN Hood, Real GN Decklid, New ACC Carpet with Mass Backing, Front and Rear GN Seats(need recovering), Rust Free PW Doors, Stock GN rear bumper, Shaved GN front bumper, Really nice 99 Trans Am Seats, Monte SS Center Console, Fiberglass Fillers Front n Rear, Fiberglass Wheel Flares, strong Olds 350, Smooth shifting 700r4 trans, and Im sure there is more but I jus cant think right now.

Damn that sux dude! Can your guy weld? I don't know how easy it'd be to find another chassis where you live...If you could get some new metal in there, It'd be another learning experience, that's for sure (along with being a huge PITA)....if you can find a rolling chassis for cheap, I'd just get it, take all your good parts, get them on the roller & then sell whatever is left of the old stuff....that's my .02. It really sucks because of the time you've got invested in this chassis...at least you know your parts are good & those can be re-used.

Yea we can weld that isn't the issue, we just don't think its worth the time n effort, I've seen cleaner rollers anywhere from 600-900$ so that's probably my best choice and easiest option. Yes I have tons of good parts dude. Yea I have about seven full days into this damn car but oh well u live n learn

I am pretty much in the same boat as you. I feel your pain. Mines a little more repairable In most spots but probly not worth it.

Yea man its sucks because "g" bodies are among my personal favs along with "f" bods and the original 60's & 70's muscle cars only GM, more than likely I will just part this one out and wait for another one next and just finish my camaro this year. So if you need any parts let me know, I have a few things you cold use on the cutlass.

So I decided to say screw it, its my p.o.s. car and im gonna fix it and keep the damn thing. Floors have been patched, Pillars repaired, Doors replaced, Qtrs Patched, body aligned, dents pulled and feathered etc........ Pics coming soon

well you have now found out, what a long time car builder }was my uncles high school buddy when I was a little kid like 9-10 years old} taught me.

looking pretty in not the priority because weather 66 gto 84 GN 69 vette or 57 dodge if they are not mechanicly sound!
they are going to be a lawn ornimate more sooner than later.

The old timers 50/60/70's car builders didn't buy their hotrods, they built them from scratch they would get a body and start from the ground up no matter where they got, it they started from the ground up thus the 3 rules

not ragging on you you have been doing a hell of a job !!!!!!!!! but I found no mater what you see it not what you got.

my project started over two years ago stripped, a major move a trailer build, and working on building a second garage
and still just geting to the cosmetics I found a sand blaster and Aircraft stripper are your new best friends and a spot weld cutter your best bud All I'am saying is if you had stripped the car down to the frame/core body would you have been a head of the game If the nexted guy reads and learns from time lost he will have learned from our mistake so again not to give you a hard time I made the mistake of not keeping all the good hard to find parts I passed on and now it is costing more time and money in the long run

you have the hotrod builder desire no matter what here you are still going after it! that in todays world is most commendable

Just saying!!!!!!!!

1st rule strip it doors, hood, trunk, fenders, interior componets, upon jacks wheels off

2nd inspect every inch to appraise the frame, body, and them componets

3rd if capable remove and inspect frame if not able to remove get out sand blaster and start every inch
