scratch that. i found it. sorry again.
if u dont mind me asking. do u have this item?

I went thru Jegs to get my cookie cutter S.B.C. No hassles. Delivered a few days later, driver zipped it up the drive and into the garage so I gave him a 10 dollar tip. Technically all the have to do is get it off the truck at the street then it is your responsibility from there. I pre-made a STRONG dolly/cart out of wood and some quality wheels/casters so I can shuffle it around as needed in the garage.

I also ordered the carb (Holley 670 C.F.M.) 2 Grand of my tax re-turn out the window but it gives me a huge jump in the right direction. V6 is already gutted and prepped to be pulled. Still have alot of parts to buy yet....

I just finished up a motor swap from 307 - 350 the engine was rebuilt and cost $750 the labor is what killed me with the install everything from testing out and examining the new engine to fabrication of little things like headers. $2400 add in new batter, starter, plugs wires etc you are up to $3000. if you can do all the labor yourself then get a crate engine for sure. as long as you get the best warranty you are good. but the fine print always says the warranty is only good if it's installed by "certified" mechanics. Local rebuild engine places were about $1500 for the 350.

fellas, need some advice.

so i got off the phone with this autozone guy and i find out i can get a rebuilt motor and trans(350/350) for about 2500 more or less depending on brand.

anybody with experience on this subject? this is my 1st motor swap 1st motor purchase 1st everything to that matter. i figuered it be easier to buy an already rebuilt motor and trans for now cause i have alot of stuff going on and still have alot of parts to replace.

maybe i havent looked through this forum good enough but i havent heard of anybody buying a motor and trans from autozone or advance or any parts retailer. so do u guys think its a good idea??

 thanks in advance.

Buy the GM crate, it is definitely the way to go with. A brand new quality engine.

I agree. I'm thinking about doing 95 % of my swap on my own. Mount it in the bay and Trans, hook up all the accessories, Carb, put in new radiator, ect... ect... ect.... Then use the Firebird to push it around the corner to the shop. :wtf:

I think it will be in my best interest to pay them 150-200 bucks to inspect my work, Install the ignition/distributor. Have to get that installed correctly or it's gonna be a mess. Have them do the first start up, get the timing and carb dialed in. I'm sure I can figure it out but would feel better having them do the final steps......

I do Tree work for a living, not a professional mechanic......

i think im going with jegs aswell. im also not a professional mechanic so i plan on doing most of the work at home and then have final steps finished and inspected by professionals.
i started the removal process last night and still got some work left. still have to put my stand and hoist together...

You will be more then happy with that engine. I had that before I swapped my LS engine in and it's a great starting point. It has 4 bolt mains, and powdered connecting rods which hold some power without even touching the bottom end. I think there is a warranty on those engines as long as you don't tear into them as well.
