Well the new owners of the track we run at are turning out to be idiots and they are on an agenda to please their friends..we had these right side bars in the car for 3 seasons and it held up to a couple of hard hits. The bar on the outside was tight on the door and was a excellent hidden rub rail.

now in their wisdom they just gave us the rules which is f%$^& late and one new rule that have is to put in door bars on the ride side like we have on the left. At least they don't make us fill the voids with 1/4 metal like we do on the drivers side...so yesterday we were out cutting the bars out to put in in door bars..spending time and money for nothing and now we have more weight hanging further out on the right side

another new rule is the max track width is 73" so I don't know how we are going to accomplish that since the car came with a wider track than that from the factory.. :blam:

That kinda blows :blam: . Back when my father raced roundyround, they would pull similar stuff every year, so your prior year car didn't pass spec, when the car count went to crap, they lifted some of their DUMB rules, lol. Great cage work though 8) .

thanks for the nice words on the cage and they'd have to get me in before the bars go on if they want me as a passenger....... that's a 3 year old car and it's taken some good hits, the front clip has been changed and this one has been tweeked...the engine came over far enough for the bolt on the upper A arm put a nice dent into the header. That is why we don't run solid engine mounts, if we did that block would be cracked. They cut back the races this year so we are just going to get it legal and run it as is. It was still one one of the fastest cars at the end of the year. Here is the other car we are running this year in a travelling division. It has a chevy built SB with about 575 hp so this should be fun. The difference between a street version SBC with 575 hp and this one this one has about $15k in it

Crazy money, the Dirt mods are just as bad (ones with real deep pockets upwards of 20K, speaking of BBC's btw). Not a poor mans sport, that's for sure, lol.

GM came out with sealed performance crate engine which were, besides making GM money, supposed to cut operating coats for races teams. Our division runs the 602 crate which has lasted 3 year seasons so far. The engine is sealed so it doesn't get torn down for inspection but some guys still cheat. Last year one of the top running teams got caught porting the heads but they said they weren't porting the heads, they was just matching the heads to the gaskets...

mopar engines are more expensive and we might be putting a new skin in it...when I first saw the car I was like oh oh...I never worked on a car with a mopar power plant.... :wtf:

When do you guys start racing up there? We start about mid April around here.

years before these new owners we practices early-mid April and started racing at the end of April...now with these new idiot owners first practice day is May 5th...we have to have a minimum number of races to maintain our status as a Nascar home track and with the late start and nites off we don't have enough races. That's why we are also racing in the other series and we might even grab the engine from our SS and drop it in a LM to race at our track since they changed the rules of that division as well with engines, our 602 with the lighter car should be quick enough to compete
