So thanks to an observant user who noticed two separate and brand new accounts posting the exact same message, looks like there's a new spammer tactic in play. There's not only TWO accounts from the same (India) IP addresses, but FIVE.

If you see something like this that isn't quite right, please let me know. Odds are its just like this, spammers trying to get their accounts "accepted" as being legit but still (being inept morons) they can't get it right.

I'm curious, what exactly is their end game by making 5 fake accounts on a random car forum? How does that do anything for them?

Like they were trying to do, making posts that appear relevant, then at some later point start dropping links to their scam/affiliate sites, either in posts (new ones or editing old ones) or in signatures. They need the accounts to get approved and accepted so the posts stick. We've had them copy and paste either entire other posts or use other posts to create one, that way they appear to sound legit.... It's all automated at some level, too. Not some guy banging out post after post after post.

The post was a good one, actually, by spammer standards, usually they're really easy to spot. Broken english, obvious links, etc.... Posting the exact same thing two or three times in the wrong sections of the site... stupid.

I understand now, I managed to miss the post.
